Battalions, Master Charger & Dead River Kings @ Tap 'n' Tumbler on 18/06/2022

Battalions - Tap 'n' Tumbler, 18/06/2022

Having found my usual spot in the corner that evening I was excited to see the three bands set to perform that night. The Tap 'n' Tumbler had its usual crowd in the pub that was just as excited about a good evening with even better live music.

Dead River Kings - Tap 'n' Tumbler, 18/06/2022

Dead River Kinds started off the night with a very solid set, performing six songs altogether. Their opening song "God Die" was a great song that was laced with thick bass riffs. The song set off the night perfectly.

Overall the band had a fun stage presence that got the crowd going throughout their set. I especially appreciated the fact the front singer wore a Boston Bruins top - I do appreciate some good Ice Hockey after all.

Master Charger - Tap 'n' Tumbler, 18/06/2022

Next up were Master Charger who define their music as a "Satanic Blues Rumble" which I find to be a rather fitting description as the bass just seems to be seeping out of their songs and has the whole building vibrate along to their songs. I personally thoroughly enjoyed their 8 song long set and made a note to check their other songs out online the next day. The set itself was a continuous flow of song after song which made for a really fluid and enjoyable performance overall. It did made me laugh when the sheer force of the bass from these guys had a beer glass shatter mid set. These guys certainly have made it into my personal music library for future listening sessions when I need a very chilled out evening.

Master Charger were a great band to listen to and the crowd certainly seems to agree with me as they helped grow the crowd in front of the stage.

The headliner of the night was Battalions who brought an 11 piece set list along for the crowd. Starting off with their song Moonburn from their Album Moonburn, Battalions certainly laid out the pace for the rest of the evening. The song being fairly fast paced ensured that even more people joined the crowd to get busy head banging. Their set was filled with great songs such as Coffin Nails, Deadbeat, Lotion Basket or Lotion "Bouquet" as it was written on the set list and my personal favourite - Betrayal & Delusion which was the last song of the set.

The band put their all into their set which was obvious from the start and made for an amazing finish of a great night. Battalions themselves describe their music as slimy, soulful and heavy and not recommended for people with a pacemaker and I couldn't agree more.

The night at the Tap 'n' Tumbler was overall a success which saw three great bands show off their talents and put on a great show.
